December 22nd 2011 - DIGICEL BRINGS SMILES TO SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AT THE ST PHILIP DISTRICT HOSPITALThursday, December 22, 2011 - (Bridgetown, Barbados): – Digicel spreads Christmas Cheer to the Evalina Smith Children’s Unit of the St Philip District Hospital.
The telecommunications company which has previously assisted the St. Philip District Hospital in the past was once again pleased to spread some Bigger, Better Joy to the special needs children.
Alex Tasker, Commercial Director explained that earlier in the year, Digicel teamed up with corporate partners to re-paint the hospital, donated toys to the children and has contributed to several parties for the elderly since last year. He added that this year’s Christmas Cheer was even more special as the initiative was driven by its staff members.
He stated, “Our management team and staff members wanted to ensure that the children were not forgotten during the Holidays, and purchased all the gifts which are both fun educational for special needs children”.
Loleen Rawlins, Principle Nursing Officer at the St. Philip District Hospital was overwhelmed by the kindness of Digicel’s staff.
“I am very happy to know that Digicel has once again supported the children of the Evalina Smith Children’s Unit. The gifts will certainly help to brighten their Christmas especially at this time when they are not visited by relatives. It will make them feel loved, and not forgotten by society”, Rawlins stated.
