DIGICEL CHOICE FOR LANDLINE VOICE AND DSL INTERNET SERVICE

Monday, May 14, 2012 – (Bridgetown, Barbados): Barbadians now have a ‘Bigger, Better’ alternative when it comes to landline voice and DSL Internet service with the introduction of Digicel’s latest product – Digicel CHOICE, which is designed to offer a competitive alternative to similar services on the island.

Alex Tasker, Digicel’s Commercial Director, explained that CHOICE is a bundled Voice and Internet offering delivered through a single integrated Gateway device and both the voice and Internet services are provided over a single Digicel SIM card.

“This affordable service is available in two tiers Digicel CHOICE – Home and Digicel CHOICE – Business. The home service is targeted towards the consumer/home user while the business service is targeted towards the small office or home office user and both plans are Individual Postpay eCare plans. The difference between the two products is what is included within the monthly bundle.

“Two Huawei Gateway devices are available to the customer for CHOICE. Device selection is dependent upon the customers’ needs. A single CHOICE Gateway device with a Digicel SIM can replace existing Landline Voice and DSL as the device provides all functions that a typical DSL router provides – NAT, DHCP, WiFi etc.   These Huawei Gateway devices are preconfigured with the web.digicelbarbados.com APN for postpaid data and are purchased by the customer in the same way as a handset sale,” Tasker explained.

He added that there are many benefits of CHOICE including no installation costs or waiting time, no line rental, users can use their existing landline telephone, it is WiFi and LAN enabled for Internet service, an external antenna is included for improved indoor 4G coverage and voice package includes both domestic and international calls.

“Setup is simple. Insert the activated SIM into the unit, power the unit up, connect the phone to the RJ11 interface and connect your laptop or PC to the WiFi or RJ45 LAN port.  The voice service is then immediately available for use.  As soon as customers open a web browser or an application requiring internet access, the Huawei Gateway device will establish a 4G session on the Digicel network. The ‘on demand’ is implemented so that 4G quota is not burned up while the customer is not actively using the Internet,” Tasker said.

Persons can contact Ms Faye Broome-Webster at 839-5999 for additional information and details.
