DIGICEL LAUNCHES LATEST BLACKBERRY SOFTWARE AT HILTON BARABDOS
- As the mobile telecommunications company rolls out BES Express for its business customers
Thursday, May 20, 2010 – (Bridgetown, Barbados): Digicel’s business customers now have more advanced BlackBerry technology at their fingertips with the launch by the mobile telecommunications company and Research In Motion (RIM), of the latest smartphone software - BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) Express, at the Hilton Barbados today.
This new software provides a highly secure and manageable wireless sync solution that gives users advanced business email features, advanced contacts features, a calendar that is always up-to-date; behind the firewall access to their work email, calendar, contacts and more from their personal BlackBerry smartphone.
Alex Tasker, Digicel’s head of sales and marketing, said the company was pleased to offer this new product to its business clients, noting that the software provides the advanced BlackBerry smartphone features with no additional software or user license fees and works with any internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan or BlackBerry enterprise data plan, available through the company.
The new BES Express will increase productivity as it will allow employees to do more with everything from business applications to synchronizing email, calendar, contacts, tasks and memos on their BlackBerry smartphone.
From a technical and IT standpoint, BES Express is certified for up to 75 BlackBerry smartphone users to be installed and run on the same server that operates with Microsoft® Exchange 2003 SP2, 2007 SP1, 2010 or Windows® Small Business Server 2003 and 2008.
This eliminates the need to purchase additional hardware and if more than 75 users are required, BES Express has the flexibility to be installed on a separate server, supporting up to 2 000 BlackBerry smartphone users per server.
Digicel’s introduction of this new software is in keeping with the company’s commitment to providing the latest technology to it customers as the company continues to be the preferred mobile telecommunications company in Barbados and throughout the region.
