DIGICEL SUPPORTS ONE OF ITS EMPLOYEES, DAVE CUMBERBATCH AS HE LAUNCHES HIS FASHION DESIGN LINE AT BMEX

-       Digicel is fully backing the launch of Jireh Designs at BMEX 2010

Monday, May 11th – Bridgetown, Barbados: Digicel recently announced its support of Dave Cumberbatch, one of the company’s members of staff as he launches his fashion design label Jireh Designs at BMEX 2010.

Dave Cumberbatch, undoubtedly a gifted designer developed a passion for fashion from as early as 8 years old, and in 2005 studied garment making at Leezan’s Fashion where he developed skills in drafting patterns and learnt different techniques in putting together design pieces. In 2007, he pursued another 3 month course in drafting patterns to further enhance his knowledge.   But come September, he will be studying fashion design at the Barbados Community College.

Through the years, Dave has been designing and making formal gowns for clients, family and friends, and at the staff talent show last December his colleagues saw his talent first hand on the Digicel runway.  From beaded bodices, to satin and crushed silk gowns, over 8 models strutted his gowns which were distinctly different and simply beautiful. One of Digicel’s Corporate Customer Care Executives, Dave admits that he admires the designs of Wayne Smith and Robert Carvallie, and grew up watching his grandmother and mother sewing and designing outfits for as long as he can remember.

With BMEX around the corner, Dave is ready to launch his label “Jireh Designs” to the public.  And this meticulous, trendy and confident designer is far from nervous.  In fact he is excited and ready to take his designs to the next level, with the support from his wife Gayna from whom most of his inspiration comes.

Alex Tasker, Digicel’s Head of Sales & Marketing stated that Digicel is thrilled to support Dave as he launches his designs at BMEX.  He stated, “Digicel is proud of Dave and recognizes his talent and attention to detail on his designs which will make him a force to be reckon with in the industry.  Our employees are not only excellent at their jobs, but are talented and artistic.   We will be at BMEX to support and cheer on Dave and wish him all the best”.

In thanking Digicel, Dave stated that he is pleased by the support of Digicel.  He indicated, “The name of my label “Jireh” is biblical and means that all help and inspiration come from God. I wanted a powerful name which was meaningful to me and I got it.  I am delighted that Digicel is backing me and their support and confidence in me is appreciated beyond words.

Patrons of BMEX 2010 can also purchase any part of the Jireh collections after the show on May 24th.
