Friday, November 4, 2011 – (Bridgetown, Barbados): Digicel has extended its involvement with some of the international cricket greats through sponsorship of the coming Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc.’s (CLOBI) Challenge Series 2011 between West Indies and England.

The mobile telecommunications giant is one of the major sponsors of the three-match Twenty/20 cricket series, which runs from November 10 to 17, at the historic Kensington Oval featuring some of the masters who would have represented the West Indies and England in the past era.

Alex Tasker, Digicel’s commercial director, explained that Digicel’s continued involvement with the tournament forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to cricket at all levels in Barbados and throughout the region.

“Digicel is pleased to be associated with this event, which will see the cricketing greats who dominated the sport over the past years come together in Barbados to provide one more memorable experience. We anticipate competitive and exciting matches and consider it an honour to be a part of this tournament which allows Barbadians and visitors alike the opportunity to see the legends in action once again,” he said.

Tasker added that as part of Digicel’s involvement with the tournament, the company is currently running a text to win promotion which ends on Thursday, November 10, where customers will have the opportunity to win airtime, handsets, CLOBI Challenge memorabilia and the grand prize of VIP access to the President’s Suite at Kensington Oval to meet the Cricket Legends by texting the word “CLOBI” to 4608 and playing the trivia game.  In addition, customers have the opportunity to meet the teams, take pictures and get autographs this Saturday at the Digicenter in Haggatt Hall from 11:00am – 1:00pm”.
