DIGICEL REWARDS CRICKET’S BIGGEST FANS DURING SECOND TEST IN DIGICEL HOME SERIES 2011

Friday, July 8, 2011 – (Bridgetown, Barbados): Digicel rewarded five lucky Digicel customers who proved they were big fans of West Indies cricket when they participated in the mobile telecommunication company’s Cricket Biggest Fan competition during the second Test of the Digicel Home Series 2011 between West Indies and India at Kensington Oval.

Customers who purchased any BlackBerry handset from the wide range offered by Digicel and activated the internet service during the special period were automatically eligible to enter the competition with the five lucky finalists being selected to participate.

They were Eslee Austin who was represented by David Clarke, Sherry Waithe who was represented by Corey Marshall; Jude Morris who was represented by Roselle Morris; Akira Joseph by Sean Agard and Sharon Harris by Brian Harris because they could not physically make it to the Oval to participate.

The eventual winner of the competition, which took the format of a Treasure Hunt with clues hidden in the Greenidge and Haynes stand, was Clarke who won a 32” Sony Bravia television. Marshall won the second prize of a Nintendo Wii gaming system while Morris won the third prize of a BlackBerry handset. Agard and Harris were the fourth and fifth place winners respectively and each received a Digicel goody bag for their efforts.

Commenting on the win Clarke said, “I was happy to have won for my best friend Eslee. When I came to the Oval I was between minds because I was not sure what I was getting into but I am glad I came. It was also a great opportunity to take in some of the action of the Test match.”

Alex Tasker, Digicel’s commercial director, congratulated all the winners noting that the company was pleased to reward customers for their continued to support as they go all in with the West Indies team and loyalty to the “Bigger, Better Network”.
