August 6th 2010 - SUPPORT FOR SOCA ON THE BEACHFriday, August 6, 2010 – (Bridgetown, Barbados): Digicel heads to the east this weekend as the mobile telecommunications company proudly supports the ‘Soca on the Beach’ event, scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 8, at Skeete’s Bay, St. Phillip.
The Crop Over melt down show, which is free to the public, is being staged by Legundz Boyz Entertainment and will highlight the best St. Phillip has to offer as well as honour Stedson ‘RPB’ Wiltshire, the nine-time calypso monarch of Barbados, who grew up in St. Phillip.
It will also feature a number of performances from various local artistes including Blood and Mickey, among others who will come together to provide a show that caters to the entire family.
Barry O’ Brien, Digicel’s general manager, noted that the company was proud to be associated with the event, which adds to the variety of major events which are hosted in St. Phillip including the popular St. Phillip Carnival and the recently concluded Soca Royale at Bushy Park.
“We are pleased to lend our support to this event which seeks to enhance community spirit in a family-focused atmosphere and will also boost economic activity as it will provide the opportunity for resident vendors to ply their trade.
