DIGICEL SUPPORTS THE JCI SPECIAL DAY FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN
Thursday, September 29, 2011 - (Bridgetown, Barbados): Digicel Barbados continues its partnership with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) to stage the annual Special Day for Special Kids.
The event which will be held at October 1st at Ilaro Court, the official residence of the Prime Minister, is also in collaboration with the Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD) and is an active packed day of entertainment and fun for special needs children.
Alex Tasker, Digicel’s Commercial Director, applauded the JCI for working diligently year after year to produce this event. He stated, “Digicel is aware of the needs of special children across the island, from working with the Special Olympics Committee to ensure that a team was sent to Greece for the Summer Olympics, to building a wheelchair ramp the Special Needs Unit at Ellerton Primary School and for the seventh consecutive year, teaming with the JCI on Special Day for Special Kids”.
He added that Digicel and the JCI had a full day of entertainment for the children, and the acknowledged the support of additional partners such as DB Productions, Dawn- Lisa Callendar Smith, JAL Caterers and Chefette Restaurants donated a variety of products and services for the event.
Parry Marshall, president of JCI Barbados, thanked Digicel for its significant contribution, stating that the telecommunication’s tremendous input continues to make the event a success.
