7. What if I am unable to make a GPRS data connection?

  • Check the GPRS Network signal strength
Checking the signal strength of your handheld will verify whether or not your handheld has a strong enough signal to send and receive wireless information. On the home screen of your device provided you haven’t changed you device theme, you will see your battery level (top left), signal strength level (top right) and the Digicel Network name (top centre). You will also see the letters GPRS. The presentation of these letters in the uppercase format is the indicator that you have access to the Digicel GPRS network & BlackBerry data network or that of a Digicel BlackBerry data roaming partner. When these letters appear in a lowercase format, this is an indication that BlackBerry GPRS access is not available. This means that you have no data connectivity and your BlackBerry device will not be able to send or receive mail.
